P@TD’s “Countdown ‘til Christmas & the Revolution as well!” Zoom Disco

P@TD & WAVES Works (featuring DJ Curly) presents…
The “Countdown ‘til Christmas & the Revolution as well!” online Zoom Disco
Saturday the 19th of December 2020. 8 ‘til late.
Seasons greetings to all! P@TD is excited to announce our next and final “Zoom Disco” for 2020. As the title alludes to, the theme for this event is based on material from the Australian ABC’s music TV show “Countdown”. A long running popular music show that aired during the period from late 1974 until mid. 1987. The event will also feature material from the less successful follow-on show, “Countdown Revolution”, that aired from 1989 to 1990.
So lock the date into your stay at home social calendar & tune in as we relive and dance along to some classic live? correction “lip synced” studio performances featuring a lot of the popular and some not so well known local & international artists of the time.
For “Countdown” fans (new and old) this is a chance to join in with fellow enthusiasts and reminisce, enjoy & dance along to some of the many classic studio performances from that era in a unique and modern way.
Remember these “public events” are entirely FREE to join! All you need is a free basic Zoom account and a decent computer / tablet, sound system and internet connection. Oh and room to dance if you’re so inclined, though not compulsory. You can join in for as little or long or as you desire. A bargain entertainment option at half the price so please feel free to share and spread the word.
Instructions on Accessing / Attending:
Welcome to this unique isolation disco and social dis-dancing (dance at home) event proudly brought to you by the COVID-19 established Facebook group “Pandemic @ the Discothèque”, WAVES Works, Amplify Fitness, PC-VJ’s & Zoom.
In order to access this online event you will need to download, install & register for a basic account with the online meeting platform “Zoom” using your preferred device. For the best experience, late model laptops or desktop computers are recommended.
To do this, double click or copy & paste the following link below, or search for “Zoom” in your device’s app store if you are using a smartphone or tablet.
Once installed, at the time of the event, start the Zoom program and join the group meeting ID listed below. From there you will be asked to enter the listed access code. If you are having issues, try copying and pasting the web address directly into your internet browser.
DJ Curly is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
Topic: P@TD’s “Countdown ‘til Christmas & the Revolution as well!”
Time: Dec 19, 2020 08:00 PM Hobart
Meeting ID: 840 2890 0057
Passcode: 191220
If the host hasn’t started the event you will need to wait to be admitted via our virtual security staff. Likewise if the meeting / Zoom disco is full, you will need to wait until someone leaves so please be patient.
Once you’ve entered the virtual room (AKA your home nightclub) you will be able to see the host (usually DJ Curly) and other guests. You will also notice various features and settings for you to get familiar with. We strongly recommend you locate and change to the “grid viewing” option located near the options menu in order to view all the guests simultaneously.
Your microphone will be automatically muted, so if you want to chat, comment or make requests, just use the in-built keyboard chatting feature to do so. The DJ, co-hosts and individual guests can be privately messaged using this feature. If you want to make a request simply send a private message to the designated DJ or host (usually DJ Curly).
Once the event starts your DJ / host will share his computer audio and video content in the case of a Video DJ. For best results we recommend you connect your device to a decent sound system but please note that bluetooth speakers with “in built” microphones are known to be problematic. As a result hard wiring via a stereo auxiliary cable is recommended. After some brief announcements and any house keeping the music will start and from there you can join in as desired by simply moving your body randomly or systematically.
*note – you will notice some users who appear staring into their camera at times, the majority of these users are usually known P@TD fans who are not so keen on dancing but simply enjoy the music and in particular the video clips. They are also often typing on their devices meaning they need to get up close to the camera. If you are uncomfortable with this then simply turn your camera off. If you have any genuine concerns about other users behaviour then please report it to the DJ / host or a designated co-host via a private message. We can determine a course of action from there, including evicting people from the room if deemed necessary.
Finally, remember to go all out and decorate your home, dress up in whatever takes your fancy, dance with props, pets and of course feel free to encourage the kids, flat mates, friends &/or family members to join in.
We also apologise in advance if any technical issues that may occur, unfortunately it’s extremely difficult to ensure a faultless experience with so many things that can go wrong, on both ends but we are slowly eradicating these as time goes by. As such please leave feedback, as any tips or suggestions as they are greatly appreciated and help to further improve our processes.
